Katabi Mayor fetes Muslims at Ramadhan Iftar event

Hundreds of Muslims in Katabi town council broke their fast during a high-profile Iftar dinner hosted by the Katabi town council chairperson Ronald Kalema at the town council’s new headquarters in Kitala.

The event started with Darasa of students from different schools in the presence of the Makindye division mayor, Alihaji Ali Mulyanyama, and Muslim leaders, among other prominent leaders in the Wakiso district.

In his speech, the Chief Guest, Mulyanyama, lauded the organizer for this event which is annually held during the sacred month of Ramadhan.

He also appreciated the town council under the leadership of Ronald Kalema for the great services rendered to the community, including the new headquarters that is on 95% completion.

In addition, Mulyanyama reminded attendees that Ramadhan is a sacred period of forgiveness, mercy, and salvation and, therefore, asked people with authority and peace enforcers to stick to their core value chains while in offices of duty.

The Katabi town council chairperson, who was also the host, Ronald Kalema, noted that the dinner was part of the long-standing tradition of sharing meals with the Muslim community.

“As you may be aware, for the past years, I have been sharing the little I have by providing Iftar packages to my dear Muslim brothers and sisters in this period, and indeed, I am very happy to share this special moment with the community,” he said.

Other prominent leaders who graced the ceremony include Charles Kabwama, the deputy mayor of Entebbe municipality; Nasifu Najja, the Wakiso district speaker; and Stephen Ssekigozi, the Busiro member of parliament contestant, among others.
