Before Edgar Tusiime Tibayeita, the Senior Magistrate grade 1 at Entebbe court, she did not accept the charges, though she understood the case.

According to Vianney Luggya, the UCAA’s spokesperson, Rosemary Mania together with two other men, stole a bag from a passenger. The driver was packing bags in the vehicle before leaving the airport. So the lady approached the driver and started asking him uncoordinated questions, including asking him where the departure was, among others. The driver was distracted in the process as the other two snatched the bag that was being loaded into the car.
When that happened, the driver reported the case to the police, and the matter was investigated, including looking at the CCTV cameras, among others. And since the driver was remembering the lady her, so they were able to reach out her.
“After collaborating with CCTV footage, she first denied, but later on confessed and actually called the other two who had taken the bag, so the bag was recovered and given back to the passenger. So this is how and what happened. So they were taken to court, and the rest court is handling the process,” he noted.
In addition, the UCAA’s spokesperson revealed that previously, they have received reports of items getting lost in and around the airport, and when they receive these reports, an investigation takes place.
He, therefore, asked the airport users that if anyone loses any valuable item, to report it and tell them when it happened, the day and time, then they can investigate and look at the CCTV footage, among other procedures.
“We appeal to users of the facilities at the airport to desist from engaging in such acts at an international airport, because there is a system in place. Security is on the ground, and we shall always investigate these cases and get the culprits,” he saided.
Luggya also confirmed that this lady is not an employee at the airport, saying, “This is a Kenyan lady who says she came to Uganda to hustle. I don’t know what kind of hustle she has been involved in, but they have turned out that these are some of the things that, unfortunately, have been engaging in.”
