Established in January 1957, Kigezi College Butobere stands as the sole senior secondary school in Kigezi Sub-region exclusively catering to male students.
During the commemoration of the 66th Siniya Day at Kigezi College Butobere School in Butobere ward, Central Division Kabale Municipality, on Saturday, the Headteacher, Board of governance, and the Alumni called upon the government to address the deteriorating state of the school’s infrastructure.
In his speech, headteacher Justus Twinamatsiko emphasized the pressing need for essential vehicles to facilitate staff and student mobility, especially for smaller groups. He also drew attention to the sorry state of several school buildings.
Counsel Elvis Twenda, the chairperson for Kigezi College Butobere alumni, said the institution faced numerous challenges, including financial constraints and the impact of dilapidated structures on the academic performance.
He however, urged parents and the public to consider sending their children to Kigezi College Butobere (Siniya) saying, though in a sory state, the school still has well-equipped laboratories, libraries, dormitories, extensive playing grounds, and a dedicated teaching staff.
The State Minister for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, David Bahati, honored the event as the representative of the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni. He pledged to compile a comprehensive report to be submitted to the First Lady.
Siniya Day holds a significant place in the heart of Kigezi College Butobere, with the school commemorating it annually.
