- Promising Talent Award: Aaron Tukei (Rugby)
- supportive Award: Rogers Mato (Football)
The Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) has voted Jacob Kiplimo as the best sports personality for March 2023.
This was during the USPA monthly assembly held on Monday, 3rd March 2023 at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.
Kiplimo earns the award for winning gold at the New York City Half Marathon last month where finished under 1:01:31 under harsh weather conditions.
The 22-year-old long distance athlete earned 320 votes ahead of motorsport duo, Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba who finished second at the Equator Rally Championship in Kenya.
During the same event, Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC winger Rogers Mato clinched the supportive award for March following his stunning goal against Tanzania in the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers in Dar-es-Salam.
Mato collected 295 votes ahead of Kobs RFC coach Brian Makalama (260 votes), Busiro FC gaffer Simon Peter Mugerwa (230 votes) and Jean Namayega Sseninde (215 votes) the head coach of Jean Seninde Women Football Club.
Uganda Rugby Sevens and Toyota Buffaloes RFC’s Scrum half Aaron Tukei won the Promising Talent Award ahead of St. Mary’s Secondary School’s Abubakar Walusimbi and St. Noa Girls’ Gloria Aya.
Lilly Lameck is the recipient of the Sporting Award for her outstanding contributions toward the elevation of the bodybuilding discipline in Uganda. The recipient of this special award is voted by the USPA Executive.
