Kisubi Ward FC wins 2025 Katabi Miruka Tournament

The Kisubi Ward football team won the 2025 Katabi Towncouncil Miruka Football Tournament. The tournament was held at Kataka playground and attracted all the five wards that make Katabi town council under the organisation and visionary leadership of the town council’s boss, Ronald Kalema, also known as Basamulekkere and the sports minister, who also represents Kawafu cell, Daniel Kuteesa Waddimba.

Kisubi football team emerged victorious after a 3:1 win against the Kabale football team full-time.

William Mirimu, the councillor representing Bwerenga at the town council, expressed joy, attributing the victory to teamwork and dedication.

“I appreciate my fellow leaders at Katabi town council, especially the mayor, for this great tournament, which has strengthened young talent in football,” Mirimu said.

The tournament also included netball, which was won by the Kabale Ward Netball team, and the most interesting sports activity was the bicycle cycling race, which attracted different leaders, including the mayor (Ronald Kalema), to participate.

Alice Nambi, the woman councillor from Kisubi also expressed happiness about the victory, crediting it to her team’s commitment.

Ronald Kalema, the Katabi town council chairperson and funder of the Katabi TC Miruka Tournament, noted that the event continues to provide a platform for the youth to showcase their football talents.

“The tournament has shaped many youth who have gone on to play for various teams. It will continue happening every year,” Kalema said.

Besides the trophy, the Kisubi football team also got shs. 1.5 million, a set of jerseys, a football, and gold medals. Kabale football team, which merged second, went away with silver medals, a full set of jerseys, and a ball.

The Kabale Ward Netball team, after merging first in netball, relieved Shs. 600,000/- in addition to the trophy, a full set of jerseys, gold medals and a ball among others.

All teams that participated in the tournament received full sets of jerseys and balls in addition to several individual awards for the players, and a new modern bicycle to Denis, who won the bicycle cycling race.

Daniel Kuteesa Waddimba, the chief organizer of the event, highlighted that the tournament has simplified the work of identifying the best players who will represent Katabi town council in the Wakiso district competitions.

The event was attended by several leaders from Katabi town council, Entebbe municipality and Busiro South constituency, including Saul Kikomeko and Counsel Jjemba, among others.
