Kitgum Resident District Commissioner (RDC) William Komakech has been thrown out of office to permit an inquest into missing funds meant for the Parish Development Model (PDM).
The move ordered by the Minister for Presidency, Milly Babalanda follows a directive by the Inspectorate of Government that ascertained that at least UGX 523.6 million was misused and abused by the RDC.
Komakech was interdicted on Saturday 27th August and replaced by his Deputy Marijjan Welire who shall take on duties as RDC untill the inquest is finished. Komakech will continue receiving half of his basic salary and shall not be allowed out of the country unless it is permitted by the secretary, Office of the President.
Fourteen members of the Kitgum District Local Government staff were arrested by the PDM National Secretariat the previous week in relation to the missing funds.
Also the Kitgum Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) was arrested over the same funds.
