Lt Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations and Commander Land Forces has arrived in Ethopian capital, Addis Ababa, ahead of his scheduled meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali.

Lt. Gen Muhoozi landed at the Addis Ababa Bold International Airport in the Ethiopian capital, Sunday afternoon accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Henry Okello Oryem and his entourage.

He was received by Uganda’s Ambassador to Ethiopia H.E Rebecca Amuge Otengo and Uganda’s Defense Advisor to Ethiopia, Col Fred Zakye amidst tight security.

Gen. Muhoozi is said to have visited Ethiopia following an invitation by H.E Abiy Ahmed. On arrival, Gen Muhoozi visited the Africa Leadership Excellence Academy.

Earlier on Saturday, Lt. Gen Muhoozi took it to his Twitter handle to announce his planned visit, “The stability of East Africa depends on two countries, Ethiopia and Uganda. The river Nile begins from these two mothers of Africa. I am going to Ethiopia to try and bring understanding between us. May Jesus Christ be with us!” Twitted Gen. Muhoozi.

During an interview with BBC’s Alan Kasujja, president Museveni revealed that Muhoozi was born in Tanzania, lived in Kenya and trained in Egypt among other countries. “Muhoozi is doing the right thing by relating with leaders of other countries, he is one of the earliest ‘Kadogos’ young children of the revolution. He has those linkages and it’s good for him to use them for the country, for Uganda,” said President Museveni.

In a less than a year, Lt Gen. Muhoozi has had official visits to Rwanda, Kenya and now Ethiopia. These visits have fundamentally bolstered securities related ties and improved Diplomatic relations between Uganda and the three African countries.

It should be noted that following his visit to Rwanda in January 2022, the two countries agreed to settle their differences a move that saw the Rwanda-Uganda boarder re-opened after close to three years, restoring a semblance of peace between the two countries.
