Mallbackens IF forward Kivumbi positive ahead of Crested Cranes return

Mallbackens IF forward Rita Kivumbi is positive ahead of her long-awaited return to play for the national team.

Kivumbi was among the 47-player provisional squad named by head coach George Lutalo ahead of the CECAFA championship and AWCON.

I am so excited and positive ahead of my return to national duty,” Kivumbi told Gateway News in an interview.

I can not wait to meet the ladies so as to get at it. I have waited for this for long so I feel ready to take up this opportunity to make my country proud,” she added.

According to the quick-footed forward, she hopes to do everything the best way she has learnt to do it.

I look forward to catching up with the ladies so that we make connections on and off the pitch.”

“I’m pumped up and can not wait for what we are going to create together as a team,” the St. Mary’s Kitende old girl (OG) concluded.

Kivumbi will be joined by the other 13 foreign based players such as Ruth Aturo, Vanessa Edith Karungi, Yudaya Nakayenze, Salena Allibhai, Adrine Birungi, Madam Christine, Joan Nabirye, Sheebah Zalwango, Tracy Jones Akiror, Juliet Nalukenge, Natasha Shirazi, Fauzia Najjemba and Viola Nambi.

The team will enter residential camp on May 7 before the CECAFA tournament kicks off on 22nd (May) up to June 5, 2022.

Then Women’s African Cup will be played between 2nd to 23rd of July in Morocco.
