Man Shot While Sneaking into Girlfriend’s Home

The Territorial Police in Kira Division are investigating circumstances surrounding a 26-year-old man who has been shot and injured in an attempt to enter his girlfriend’s family home. The incident happened on April 16th, 2023 at around 3am.

A bodaboda rider identified as Micheal Ddiro, 26, from Bukerere village, boyfriend to Margaret Namata, 26, was shot by Bbuto police who responded to an emergency call made by Rosette Kaweesi the owner of the home and auntie to the victim’s girlfriend. 

According to Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson, police received a call from Kaweesi, a staff member at Mukono General Hospital reporting a suspected criminal who was attempting to break the small gate into the home. They rushed and found a man trying to climb over the wall fence, shot him on the left leg and arrested him immediately. 

Enanga noted that according to the circumstances, the victim knew the home and could have gained access into the home. It is upon this that he has urged young adults to avoid such risky behaviors especially at night.

“We would like to warn young adults in relationships that sneaking into your partners home or family home is dangerous because they can easily be perceived to be strangers or suspected criminals with a potential threat of harming the victims.”

The victim is out of danger and recovering well.
