Democratic Party (DP) Chairman General, Nobert Mao was on Thursday appointed Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs by President Yoweri Museveni in the latest cabinet reshuffle.
Mao’s appointment comes less than 24 hours after he penned a cooperation agreement with the ruling party, National Resistance Movement (NRM).
The news of the newly birthed alliance between the NRM and DP has sparked controversy across social media and political circles.
Museveni announced the appointment via his Twitter handle. “By the virtue of Authority conferred on the president by articles 113(1) and 114(1) of the 1995 constitution of the Republic of Uganda. I hereby appoint persons below as cabinet ministers and Minister of state.” the tweet reads.
Other appointments include; Hamson Denis Obua has been elevated to Government Chief Whip, Agago Woman legislator appointed as State Minuster for Economic Monitoring and Peter Ogwang is the new State Minister for Sports.
