Makerere University’s Elizabeth Atwesigye was crowned Miss University Uganda-Africa 2022 on Saturday last week at the pageant grand finale held at the Kasanga based International University of East Africa (IUEA).
Uganda Christian University Kampala campus’s Victoria Atukunda and YMCA Kampala’s Esther Kuteesa were also crowned second and first runners-up respectively at the glamourous event. IUEA’s Marketing Director, Fathlun Alwi was the Chief Guest.
Atwesigye will represent Uganda in the Miss University Africa pageant with Queens from around the continent which will be held in Abuja, Nigeria later this year.
The outgoing Queen, Yvonne Abias Nabaasa while delivering her speech advised the freshly crowned Queens to serve and inspire the next breed of women. She also thanked all stakeholders for their commitment and support towards the event.
“I would like to thank all the people who have patterned with me to see that this event happens. Am so grateful, may the Lord reward you abundantly,” Nabaasa said.
27 contestants from select universities in the land took part in the inaugural pageant.
