The Miss University Uganda, Africa was launched Thursday at Silver Springs Hotel in Bugolobi a Kampala suburb.
The launch dinner and talent night was organised to enable the contesting queens pitch their projects to their distinguished guests.
At the start of this non-bikini pageant, every contestant was given the task of creating a project that she would use to change the lives of the people living in her community.
The dinner also involved a talent night where the queens were tasked to show case their God given talents to the guests and the people who were following the whole event on the YouTube channel of Teenz Crown. Among the different talents that the beautiful queens exhibited was dancing and acting.
While making a speech to the public, the current Miss University Africa and also the main brain behind this newly born decent beauty pageant, Yvonne Abias Nabaasa also carried out the role of being the judge on the launching dinner and talent night.
She explained the reason as to why she came up with this pagent in her mother land Uganda. She expressed her joy after seeing her dream coming to pass.
“I am so grateful to all the people who have helped me in one way or the other to see that this event becomes a success. I am so happy and I thank the Lord for enabling us come to this day,” Nabaasa said.
Former Miss University Africa, Atuhaire Mackline while delivering her speech thanked all the beautiful queens from the different universities for taking part in the pageant and also went ahead to advise them never to give up on their projects because they are capable of achieving their dreams.
She also requested the contestants to always be decent so that they don’t let down the core values and mission of this pageant.
The pageant is having over 20 contestants coming from different universities in Uganda which include Makerere University, Kyambogo Universiy, Uganda Christian University both Mukono and Kampala campus among others.
The grand finale is set for today Saturday 11th June, 2022 at the International University of East Africa and the winner will be anounced and she will automatically be going to Abuja the capital city of Nigeria to participate in the Miss University Africa competition.
