Muko Protection Agency rescues more trafficked victims

Three victims of trafficking have been returned by the Muko Protection Agency from Jordan, where they have spent months of uncomfortable moments. All Ugandans, namely Shafulah Nabwowe, Metrine Masibo, and Grace Nasanga, arrived at the Entebbe International Airport on Thursday, 3rd October, with Ethiopian Airlines.

These young ladies have now marked the number of returns to increase to 45 Ugandan citizens who were victims of human trafficking repatriated by the Muko Protection Agency in coordination with its partners, including one identified as Maama Melissa, together with the government of Uganda through the Ministry of Labour.

While receiving the triplet victims at the airport, Pamela Besigye, the Muko Protection Agency supervisor, urged the public to always utilize only registered companies while processing traveling arrangements to avoid trafficking and its related challenges.

“When one uses a registered companies, he or she is assured of a proper job and if things turn negatively, there’s always an immediate solution which is not the case with any other person that wouldn’t have used a registered company,” she said.

Besigye therefore warned parents about online trafficking as well as urging agent’s companies to stop such acts because it is the main cause of human abuse among other challenges that are being faced by the people that move abroad for work.

Metrine Masibo narrated that she was confined for over two months and restricted from making contact with her relatives and friends.

“My phone was confiscated by my previous boss and I was also not allowed to move out. However, by God’s grace, I managed to contact a friend who later connected to someone who sheltered us for a few weeks before the police caught us,” she added.

On the other hand, Grace Nasanga, who traveled in January to Jordan for work, explained that everything was moving well for the first two months on duty as a house mind; however, her boss started turning to something else, which forced her to escape for green pastures.

“When the situation came to the worst, I was advised by a colleague to escape from the house and join them out, which I did; however, just a few weeks later, we were reported to the police by my former boss, ending up in prison,” she said.

With all what she passed through, Nasanga appreciated Maama Melissa together with Muko protection agency who rescued her with fellow colleagues from prison and made their travel arrangements as well.

Najimeddin Hisham Najim, the owner of the Muko Protection Agency assured the public of his commitment together with fellow partners to ending human trafficking saying, “We have so far rescued over 40 young Ugandans who have been trafficked to various countries, especially Jordan and other Arabian countries as one of our commitments to ending the vice.”

Another victim, Shafulah Nabwowe, on her return to the airport, also lauds the agency together with all its partners that have enabled them to return home from what she identified as a war in Jordan.

Although these young ladies have passed through a lot, they still insist on going back abroad because they think to do nothing here. However, they urged Ugandans, especially girls, not to attempt to have thoughts of moving abroad, more so to Arabian countries.
