MV Kalangala, the only public vessel plying the Entebbe-Kalangala route is to resume operations on Wednesday, 5th April, 2023 after a month-long hiatus.
The vessel discontinued operations early in March to permit mandatory servicing and maintenance.
According to a press statement issued Monday by the National Oil Distributors Limited (NODIL), a company that operates the vessel on behalf of the Ministry of Works and Transport, the vessel will resume its normal operations starting Wednesday.
“The ship is scheduled to start in Nakiwogo Entebbe at 2.00 pm,” the statement revealed in part.
The charges for the MV Kalangala remained unchanged from what was before the hiatus according to NODIL. Passenger tickets for first class seats go for Shs 14,000 while seats in the general area will cost Shs 10,000.
It returns in time for the Easter weekend as many Ugandans are expected to throng the various holiday destinations in the country, including on Kalangala.
MV Kalangala plies only two routes from Kalangala, starting at 8:30 am to Nakiwogo in Entebbe where it docks at 11am. At 2pm, it sets off from Entebbe and reaches Kalangala at 5 pm.
