Nalugya buries league disappointment to focus on Crested Cranes

Kampala Queens forward and assistant captain, Shamirah Nalugya has buried league disappointment only to focus on national duty.

Nalugya and teammates missed on the FUFA Women Super League triumph to She Corporates by a goal difference after levelling points.

“Despite not winning the league, I believe my performance was impressive at the club and my hope is that I keep the same display on the National Team,” Nalugya was quoted by the FUFA website.

“I am happy to be part of the Senior National team set up and it is an opportunity for me to impress the coaches and be able to achieve the set target,” she added.

The Kampala Queens’ shirt ten was instrumental in her side’s emphatic run even though they failed to reach the summit she will celebrate the harvest of five goals on her name.

This will be the second tournament where Nalugya dons National colours on the senior level after playing the 2019 CECAFA Edition in Tanzania.

According to the attacking midfielder, the squad has tremendously improved and it’s ready to meet any opponent that comes their way.

The CECAFA Senior Women National Championship will kickstart on June 1st till 11th as the ladies prepare for the upcoming AWCON.

Uganda are in Group A with Rwanda, Burundi and Djibouti.
