One perishes in Kabale Accident

The Territorial Police in Kabale district recorded a fatal motorcycle accident on the Kabale Katuna highway on Thursday.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson,told members of the press on Thursday afternoon that the deceased, identified as Arinaitwe Dan, was riding a motorcycle from the direction of Kabale University when he collided with a motor vehicle.

The vehicle involved has the registration number RAE 062V/RL 4287 and is a grey Shacman H3000 belonging to Francois Nshimiyimana, a 35-year-old Rwandan national residing in Vyumba, Gicumbi district.

Maate stated that the accident took place at approximately 11:55 am at Mwanjari trading center along the Kabale Katuna highway.

According to Maate, preliminary findings suggest that the rider failed to exercise caution when merging onto the road. As a result, the deceased collided with the trailer guard, fell off his motorcycle, and was subsequently crushed by the vehicle’s tires.

Police officials visited the scene, and the body was transported to the mortuary at Kabale referral hospital. Both the motor vehicle and the motorcycle involved in the accident are currently at Kabale police station, pending further investigations.

The police spokesperson noted that a case has been registered at Kabale police station in Kabale District under reference number TAR 64/2023
