Nkumba University gaffer, Sulaiman Bbosa has revealed that he intends to make changes in tactics and personnel for their quarterfinal meeting with Uganda Christian University on Thursday in the Pepsi University Football League (UFL).
The Beach Boys extended their season to the Quarterfinal stage after emerging second in Group B behind two-time champions Makerere University Business School (MUBS).
Speaking after a 3-1 win over Entebbe Pride FC on Sunday, Bbosa told Gateway News : “We are ready and in good shape to put up a good show against the defending champions, but being home gives us the advantage of trying to secure a win.
“We have made a few changes in tactics, especially the formation and transitions, some players are still out injured but hope they will be ready by Thursday. We have new additions to the squad in areas we did not perform well in the group stages.”
The tactician believes that the team has been able to form cohesion for the past weeks of training and friendly games. “The team is working hard and together, and we have seen improvements in all areas.” Bbosa remarked
The squad received a boost as key player James Biko Bage returned to the fold last week after featuring for the South Sudan U23 side and his counterpart Agumemboki Felix Abishai is expected to make a return before Match day.
Goalkeeper, Jerome Lubega is expected to maintain his custodian role on Thursday and Captain Erick Uyirwoth will continue at right back as new player Laden Musoke is expected to make his first bow for the Beach Boys.
Elsewhere, Kampala University will take on St.Lawrence University, Kyambogo University will take on MUBS and Bugema University will go against Uganda Matrys Univesity on the path to the semifinals.
