St. Baanabakintu Bulama Primary School, Mpala, on 8th December 2024, concluded the school year with an event that intended to show to the community the milestones achieved in both infrastructure and academics during the last 25 years of existence.
The function was held at the school premises, blessed with warm sunny weather and packed with all sorts of amazing activities that learners love, including face painting, bouncing counsel, music, dance, and drama, as well as indulging their sweet tooth at the ice cream.
To cap off this extraordinary day, each class took the stage with different entertainment experiences that filled parents and other guests with joy and laughter as learners performed poems and cultural dances, among others, which made teachers not resist joining in on the fun.
In his speech, the chief guest, Owek. Henry Ssekabembe Kiberu urged parents to prioritize the education of their children in a bid to nurture a future generation that is empowered to bring a positive impact to society.
In addition, he also asked children to observe discipline during the long vacation so that they can return to school safely next year.
The top-class teacher took turns calling learners up and giving a brief story of their successes in school. It was a proud moment for everyone, as each top-class learner walked up to the stage with a parent to receive their certificate, followed by a photo moment with the chief guest and finally, cake cutting.
Mrs. Betty, the mother of one of the graduating learners, noted that when she saw the school for the first time, I knew instantly that this was a school for my child, saying, “It felt calm and structured and understanding touched with an amazing family background of the directors. And most of all, you care about autism and you care about my son.”
Sarah Nakimuli, the school’s headteacher, emphasized the importance of recognizing and developing children’s talents.
“Every child has a talent or gift, so it’s a collective responsibility between us and you, our valued parents, to discover it, whether at school or home. This support will encourage the child to take an interest and grow their talent. Come the next year, 2025, the school will be owning a playground to cater for football as well,” she noted.
