Hundreds mostly women on Wednesday 17th April gathered at the works grounds in Entebbe to celebrate Women’s Day in Wakiso district.
The celebrations were presided over by H.E Barbara Nekesa Oundo the former Uganda’s High Commissioner to South Africa who praised the women empowerment and contributions to the country and also urged them to be champions of peace and unity.
Other dignitaries who attended the event include Rosemary Seninde the former legislator of Wakiso district, Justine Mbabazi, the Wakiso Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Fabrice Rulinda the mayor of Entebbe municipality, Alfred Malinga the Wakiso district Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Former Nsangi Municipality Mayor Hajj Abdul Kiyimba, Wakiso district local leaders among others.
This year’s Women’s Day was celebrated with the theme; “Accelerating Gender Equality through Women’s Economic Empowerment”.
