Police has on Friday given the greenlight to Easter Sunday’s East African Motorcross Championship after thorough inspections of the course.
The Championships will be held this Sunday at Victoria Racing Park in Garuga, Katabi Town Council, with over 60 riders from Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania expected to compete.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire the racing park meets standards required to successfully hold an event of such magnitude.
“A fire-fighting team, sniffer dogs and ambulances will be positioned strategically to ensure safety and capacity to handle any challenges,” Owoyesigire revealed
“We are going to deploy on all ends including the lake shore to regulate proceedings. We expect a smooth event and criminal elements will not be let in. Gates will be open at 7am on Sunday and no body will be allowed in before that time.” Owoyesigire indicated
Tinah Nankabirwa, who is part of the organizing team at Luba Events told Gateway News that all necessary precautions and planning have been taken into account to enable a great experience for the revelers.
Veteran and decorated rider, Arthur Blick said he’s confident and believes Team Uganda is well prepared to give fans something to celebrate on Sunday.
Local Rally Champion Duncan Mubiru, Ponsiano Lwakataka, Chippa Adams among other big names are expected to wow crowds on Sunday.
