Police seize 10 guns in one week

The Joint Security Agencies have over the last week recovered 10 guns other exhibits from Karamoja, Kampala and Gulu city.

In a press statement on Monday, the police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga confirmed that they on February 22nd recovered one gun from two criminal gang members who allegedly shot a 32-year-old Samuel Okello a bodaboda rider and robbed his motorcycle after they had hired him to transport them to Aywee region.

In the same operation, a tracking device, breaking implements, master keys, a head mask were also recovered and exhibited.

Police also on February 23rd recovered one SMG rifle and put 3 armed out of action after they fell in Joint UPDF ASTU ambush at Kocholo village in Kobulir parish, Abim district.

On the same date, suspected Turkana warriors raided cows at Nakele Dam, Watukan Parish in Kotido district and were pursued by UPDF soldiers from 405 brigade in which process 4 of them were killed, 11 cattle, 2 donkeys and 4 guns were recovered.

2 SMG rifles were recovered and one suspect Michael Lokobo in an intelligence led operation carried out by the UPDF from 405 Brigade in Kotido district on February 24th.

2 SMG riffles were recovered on February 25th together with 29 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle registration number UFR 587Q which aided mobility of an 8 suspects criminal gang among whom 2 suspects including 60- and 42-year-old Nsubuga Ismail and Mubiru Erias were arrested.

Enanga further noted that such acts deprive communities of peace and security and he has upon this appreciated efforts by security personnel from 405 Brigade, ASTU, territorial commanders in Kampala Metropolitan Police.
