Regional Tour: Micho Praises Ssematimba’s Performance Against Western Region Select

Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has described Titus Ssematimba as a ‘Special’ player after staging a stunning show as Uganda Cranes made a Regional tour to play against Western Region Select at Kyamate Stadium, Ntugamo.

Wakiso Giants forward, Ssematimba came off the bench to calmly score two goals and give the visitors all the bragging rights.

“Titus (Ssematimba) is a special young player with a sense to transcend in the box and not many players can do so,” Micho told the media shortly after the game.

“He is a young player who came to the light this year in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) with his side Wakiso Giants and he has so far done so well.”

Western Regional team asked several questions in the opening stanza but failed to cut the line hence concluding the first half without a goal on either side.

Martin Kizza and Saidi Kyeyune as well got clear-cut chances but they were unlucky to find the target.

In his first appearance, Ssematimba needed only two minutes to write his name on the wall after tapping home George Kaddu’s cross.

In the 57th minute, the former Buddu forward was again on the scoresheet after being set up by Isma Mugulusi.

Later on, Rogers Mato sealed the day with a third goal to ensure the Uganda Cranes travel back to Kampala calm and comfortable.

According to Micho, Ssematimba will be very productive to the team because he brings something different which helps to increase the conversion rate.

Micho, also added that amidst his (Ssematimba) immense talent he should held with a tough hand: “He is extremely talented but instead of romancing him, we need to be critical because he has material but it’s our responsibility to turn into a final product.”

Micho added: “I do not only coach Ugandan players but I also love them and I surely enjoy it when I see them improve.”
