Religious leaders in Entebbe Municipality have been tasked to rally congregants to embrace the Parish Development Model (PDM) in order to break free from the vicious circle of poverty.
The call was made by Entebbe Municipal Division A chairperson, Scholastica Najjemba Baguma during a meeting with members of the clergy from different religious denominations from within the Municipality held on Wednesday at the Division Headquaters.
According to Baguma, religious leaders have the duty to share transformational knowledge with the people they lead. “Through places of worship we can reach the hard to reach areas, our communities are founded on the churches and mosques thus making the places of worship the key to reach everyone,
“I therefore urge you our leaders to spread the PDM gospel and break it down for our people to benefit from it, it has been tailored for them.” She said.
Baguma furthermore urged the clergy and parents to involve the youths in vocational studies in order to equip them with the right tools to become self-employed.
During the same meeting, Sheik Rashid Muyingo appreciated the Municipal leadership for involving them in the sensitisation drive.
“We as religious leaders, have been left out in many government programs like emyoga, entandikwa among others but now that we have been engaged in parish development model, we are going to work hand in hand for it’s success.” Muyingo said.
Rev.Fr. Herman Zziwa Mukasa asked political leaders not to involve party politics while serving their constituents but rather promote government programs.
