Rev Fr Dominic Alinga further remanded over URA staff murder

The Entebbe Magistrates Court has again remanded Rev Dominic Alinga on allegations attached to the murder of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) staff Bosco Ngorok, who also has charges of attempted murder to a boda boda rider, known as Abigaba Mugisha.

Rev Alinga, who at first resisted facing the magistrate, opting instead to face the gallery, appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Grade 1, Stella Okwong Paculal, on Monday, 26th August, who said that the matter was up for mention to provide updates on the status of investigations.

“With the absence of the state attorney, the court could not establish how far the inquiries had progressed. We shall adjourn and then get information for the next date,” she noted.

The case was adjourned to September 13th, 2024, for further mention by Chief Magistrate Stella Maris Amabilis.

Rev Alinga faces charges of murder of the URA staff, which he is alleged to have committed on 3rd August 2024, in Kitooro, Wakiso District, which is contrary to sections 171 and 172 of the Penal Code Act.

Prosecutors claimed that the reportedly knock of Mugisha’s motorcycle, a boda boda rider who tried to rush the deceased to Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital for medical care by Rev. Fr Alinga was an unlawful attempt to stop the emergency rescue, an offense that violates the law in Section 187 of the Penal Code, Cap 128.

The priest will continue to remain in Kigo prison until September 13th, 2024, when the case will be mentioned again.
