Rotary, UCAA Donate An Orthopaedic Equipment To Entebbe General Hospital

The Rotary club of Entebbe in partnership with Uganda Civil Aviation Authority-UCAA have donated a state of the art Orthopaedic Equipment to Enebbe General Hospital.

Rotarians together with officials from UCAA handed over the equipment to the hospital administrators in a ceremony on Saturday 11 February 2023.

Rotarian George Ochieng, the President Rotary club of Entebbe louded his club members and partners for their relentless service to humanity noting that, “On rereceipt of 102,000 U.S dollars Global Grant from Rotary International, the Rotary Club of Entebbe dedicated over 80% of the Grant towards procurement of the state of the art Orthopedic equipment for the Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital.”

The Deputy Director General-UCAA, Olive Birungi Rumonyo said that health is a priority when it comes to using the plane. “We pledge to continue equiping Entebbe General Hospital because in turn we benefit even more since it is our immediate refuge in case of emergencies.” She added.

Speaking on behalf of the Hospital management, Dr. Stephen Kyebande, the medical superintendent of Entebbe General Hospital thanked Rotary and partners for the thoughtfulness of the people who will directly benefit from the donation. “We are glad to have recieved this equipment. Thanks you Rotary, thank you UCAA.”

Deputy Mayor-Entebbe Municipality, Charles Kabwama vowed to challenge Entebbe leadership to put more emphasis on infrastructural development most especially roads as part of a way to improve the health sector in Entebbe.

DR Charles Olaro, the Director Clinical Services, Ministry of Health rooted for more partnerships, “CAA and Rotary partnership has helped our Hospital acquire an Orthopaedic Equipment which will be of great help, I implore other cooperate organizations to do the same.”

Rotary District 9214 Gorverner, Rotarian Peace Taremwa tasked other Rotary clubs to borrow a leaf from the Rotary Club of Entebbe and partner with the right people which will help them deliver.

The countrys Aviation regulator, CAA and the Rotary club of Entebbe- a humanitarian service organization say, the Machinery cost the duo an amount estimated to a tune of 300 Million Ugandan Shillings.

Prior to COVID19, Entebbe Handling Services now NAS had tabled 90,000 U.S dollars as matching funds to Rotary International Grants for emergency care at Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority also offered more funding to this project. However, following the Govt of Uganda’s intervention in equiping the Hospital for emergencies in the wake of COVID-19, the Rotary International Grant resources were diverted to orthopaedics equipment for the same Hospital
