Rotary District Governor, D9214- Uganda and Tanzania, Rotarian Peace Taremwa has advised locals to embrace Rotary citing it’s relentless services rendered towards improving the well being of the most deprived of communities.
Paul Harris fellow-PHF Peace Taremwa said this while commissioning and handing over a newly renovated health centre two to the locals of Nalugala and Kitala in Wakiso district.
The Rotary club of Garuga injected over 12 million UGX into the renovation of Naluga health centre two.
PHF Peace Taremwa assured medics of Rotary’s unwavering support, “I wants health workers to always keep in mind that they have friends from Rotary who are determined to support them, I further urge Rotarians to look for more funding and deliver relevant solutions to community quandaries”.
The district Governor also commissioned an incinerator worth 10 million UGX at Kitala Secondary School donated by the Rotary club of Garuga. The erection of the incinerator will help the school control garbage and reduce Sanitary waste into easily disposable ash.
PHF Taremwa further tasked Locals and students to put the donations to good use noting that donations can only serve the purpose to the community if they are fully but keenly utilized.
The charter President of the Rotary club of Garuga, Mr. Benjamin Bwanika thanked the District Governor for accepting to be a part of the club’s milestone and assured him of their commitment to do more in the community, “To our DG, thank you very much for being part of us today, we have heard your call and we will heed to it. The club has set aside 50,000 USD that will be used to build a martenity ward,” said Bwanika.
The club also contributed 4,000 USD to the Rotary foundation. The Rotary club of Garuga is among over 400 Rotary clubs in the country pulling resources together to deliver humanitarian service to communities in need within Rotary’s seven areas of focus.
These focus areas were unanimously approved by Rotary International’s Foundation Trustees and Board of Directors to help give Rotarians a sense of direction in their humanitarian deliberations.
Started in 1905, Rotary has grown to engulf the entire world into it’s service arm. Rotarians contribute time and expertise to make a difference.
