Uganda on Wednesday welcomed the International Rotary President ahead of the 2023 Rotary district annual conference in Mbarara.
Receiving Governor Marty Martha Peak Helman, at Entebbe International Airport who is to represent the president of Rotary International rotary Jennifer E. Jones, the District governor of rotary clubs in Uganda District Governor (D9213), Mike Kennedy Sebalu said that during the annual conference that will take place in Mbarara between 27th – 29th. April, they will be celebrating their communities with whom they have managed to make lives better through their activities of peace and reconciliation, bettering health and sanitation to mention but a few.
“We are privileged to have Marty here with us in this unique joint rotary annual conference that has combined two districts; 9213 the one I lead in Uganda and 9214 which covers part of Uganda and Tanzania led by District Governor (D9214) Peace Godfrey Taremwa, – Marty was so crucial in starting up Makerere University peace Centre and Buikwe technical institute,” remarked Sebalu.
Governor Peace Taremwa added that during the 3 days conference, they expect about 1600 delegates from Uganda and other countries and there’s no doubt that apart from the conference where they will network as they celebrate their communities in Mbarara, it will be a great opportunity for people in the tourism sector in Mbarara to make some money through accommodation and visits in the National park plus other exciting places in the land of milk and honey.
Governor Marty, said such meetings are special moments for Rotarians because apart from celebrating themselves, they share ideas on different project geared towards improving people’s livelihoods.
Marty will witness change of leadership from District Governor (D9214) Peace Godfrey Taremwa to Governor elect (DGE9214) Francisco Ssemwanga and from District Governor (D9213), Mike Kennedy Sebalu to Governor elect (DGE9213) Edward Kakembo.
