SLAU stuns YMCA to storm UFL quarterfinals

St Lawrence University made it to the knockout stage of the Pepsi University football league after proving to be too strong for YMCA.

A hatrick from Dennis Kalanzi and a late goal from Bruno Bunyaga were enough to grant st Lawrence University a 4-1 victory against YMCA . Benon kigenyi pulled one for YMCA.

The game kicked off with both teams zealous for victory YMCA with the first chance in the 5th minute as William Kabungo’s effort went wide .

Bruno Bunyaga tried to introduce his magic in the 10th minute but YMCA stopper prosper Mukisa made a comfortable save.

SLAU’s breakthrough came in the 15th minute when Dennis Kalanzi ‘s powerful header ended up in the back of the net.

Kalanzi’s goal seemed to have fired his spirit for goals as he registered a brace in the 27th minute 2-0 at halftime.

In the second half, YMCA seemed to have come to redeem themselves and in the 66th minute Benon Kigenyi pulled one for YMCA giving a glimpse of hope to the visitors.

However their hope didn’t last long as Dennis Kalanzi completed his hatrick netting the third for the hosts .

In the 96th minute Bruno Bunyaga added his name on the score sheet completing a 4-1 win for St Lawrence University.

The result helped st Lawrence University quality to the quarterfinals of the Pepsi University football league with 11 points.

In the other game Makerere University claimed a 3-1 victory but it was of no much help as they failed to make it to the knockout stage .

SLAU has joined the likes Nkumba university, Makerere University Business school, Uganda Christian University, Uganda Matyrs University, Kyambogo University.
