South African rapper and dancer Costa Titch, whose real name is Costa Tsobanoglou, has died at the age of 27.
Costa collapsed to his death while performing at the Ultra music festival on Saturday, March 12th, 2023.
He was a popular figure in the South African music scene, with his unique blend of hip-hop, amapiano, and kwaito music reverberating with fans beyond the country.
Costa Titch was born in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga in 1995 and was known for his hits Nkalakatha and Activate jams.
His amapiano single, Big Flexa, was released in December 2021 and became the most-viewed Amapiano video in late 2022, with over 30 million views on YouTube.
His passing comes weeks after the death of another South African rapper AKA, who was killed in drive by shooting in Durban.
The amapiano star wowed Ugandans last year in July at the Club Dome experience alongside Nigeria’s Adeknule Gold.
Costa’s spirited performance earned him a return to Uganda last December at Garden City’s New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Tributes have poured in from fans and celebrities in Uganda following the passing of the rapper expressing their condolences on social media.
