Wakiso Giants head coach Alex Gitta claims that their game against UPDF FC will be a tricky one.
The two sides will face off on Monday March 21 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16.
The game comes less than seven days after the league clash on Tuesday last week which ended 1-0 in favour of the Purple Sharks which completed a double over the army side.
“It’s such a tricky game having played UPDF twice in the league and defeating them,” Gitta said before adding.
“I know they (UPDF) must have done some good homework about us but we have also done same about them.”
“If you look at the results with league games, both are 1-0 wins for us which means it’s a strong team that we need to prepare well for and get positive results,” he added.
In the past three seasons, the Purple Sharks have played twice in the quarter finals and Gitta wants one more improvement on that record.
“Our record in the cup stands at quarter finals but we need to do better this time round.”
“Our target for this campaign is to play not less than five games and that takes us to the semi-finals and from there, we can try to go further into the last two,” he noted.
This will be the seventh meeting between the two sides in all competitions with Wakiso Giants winning four times, UPDF have won once and they drew once.
