SUPL: Bogere Scores A Beauty As Wakiso Giants See-off Mbarara City

Ivan Bogere scored a belter to help Wakiso Giants register a 3-1 victory against Mbarara City in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Wednesday.

The Purple Sharks got relief returning to winning ways after registering three wins where they conceded eleven goals.

In the 20th minute, unmarked Sam Ssenyonjo headed home Joshua Lubwana’s corner kick to give the hosts a lead.

Five minutes later, Wakiso Giants had a chance to extend their lead from the spot but Senyonjo’s effort went above the crossbar.

Wakiso Giants goalkeeper was cautioned for over holding the ball for long which lead to a freekick but Jude Semugabi’s effort was blocked by the wall.

Eleven minutes into the second stanza, Henry Kitegenyi’s shot went off Edward Satulo’s hand which led to Mbarara’s penalty.

Charles Sempa stood up and converted from the spot sending Emukule the wrong side.

In the 72nd minute, Titus Ssematimba rose highest to node home Tom Matsiko’s corner kick past a clueless Mbarara defence.

Ivan Bogere connected with Owen Kasule to weave quick passes before they released Erick Kibowa who failed to put the ball on the target.

With eight minutes to play, Bogere scored a long-range fine finish from 40 yards beating Mbarara City’s goalkeeper Martin Elugant who had moved off his line.

The three points leave Wakiso Giants in the seventh position at 30 points while Mbarara City’s worries continue as they seat 14th at 17 points after 20 games.
