The champions put up a five star performance as the registered a 5-0 victory against relegated Police FC in the Star Times Uganda Premier League at St.Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.
In the sixth minute, Bobosi Byaruhanga released Yunus Sentamu on the left flank who laid a low cross and Milton Karisa tapped home to put Vipers SC ahead.
Shortly after, the whole stadium got on it’s feet to clap for midfield maestro, Tonny Mawejje who was playing his last professional game.
Mawejje nearly found the back of the net through a powerful rebound but his effort missed the target by inches.
Six minutes past half an hour mark, Byaruhanga laid the ball in the area but Halid Lwaliwa’s header kiss the bar it went out.
After the interval, Vipers nearly extended the lead after Tom Ikara made a howler but Missi Diego Semugera cleared his lines.
Five minutes into the second half, Karisa scored off a rebound after Byaruhanga’s long range rattled off the cross bar.
Two minutes later, Najib Yiga’s sweet through pass met Byaruhanga on a run going past Police’s defence and last year’s MVP smashed the ball into the net.
Marissa had a chance to complete a hatrick but he failed to tap home twice in an empty net.
The moment of the game came in the 72nd minute when Byaruhanga beat Ikara to calmness before sent Ssemugera to the market and scored into an empty net.
As the game hit the last minutes, the hitman Yunus Sentamu hit the last nail in Police’s coffin with a powerful shot at the far post and the stadium went crazy in chants and praise.
The result means the Venoms finished on top of the log with 74 points having scored 69 goals and conceded only 19 in 30 games played in the concluded season.
