Bottom placed Tooro United registered a golden 1-0 victory past wasteful Vipers SC in the Star Times Uganda Premier League at Buhinga Stadium, Fort Portal on Friday.

Mark Nsubuga was the hero of the day giving Tooro United maximum points past table leaders, Vipers SC to keep their hopes of coming out of relegation alive.

Vipers started the game on a high tempo as they searched for an early goal but the lions of Fort Portal stood strong at the backline.

Milton Karisa found the first chance of the game in the 10th minute after beating his marker to pace but Tooro United’s goalkeeper Simon Mabuya rushed off his lines to save matters.

Thirteen minutes later, Najib Yiga was fouled at the edge of the box and Dissan Galiwango stepped up to take the freekick but his effort went above the crossbar.

In the second half, the hosts stepped up with pace an started causing tense onto Vipers backline.

At the top of the hour, Emmanuel Munobi sighted Bright Anukani but the midfielder’s effort went wide by a few inches.

The point of madness came in the 79th minute when Mark Nsubuga poked the ball home from close range to beat Fabien Mutombora.

The result takes Tooro United to 12 points at the bottom while Vipers SC stand at 43 points, three adrift second placed KCCA FC.
