Friday League Results
• Express FC 2-2 Tooro United
• SC Villa 1-2 Bright Stars FC
SC Villa suffered a 1-2 loss to the hands of Bright Stars in the Star Times Premier League at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Friday.
Yasin Mugume nearly placed the visitors in the lead with a well-curled freekick over the wall but his effort parried off the goal post in the second minute.
In the 10th minute, SC Villa custodian Martin Ssenkoto brought down Nelson Senkatuka in the dangerous area and the hosts were awarded an early penalty.
Shortly, Senkatuka stood up to take the challenge and he perfectly slotted the ball home from the penalty spot to give Bright Stars the lead.
Minutes half an hour mark, heavy rains poured on the field of play but the centre referee allowed the game to go on as the fans looked for shade.
At the death of the first stanza, Senkatuka was back at it extending the lead with a great tap in thanks to Loki’s excellent through ball.
In the 70th minute, quick footed forward Goffin Oyirwoth pulled back one to restore confidence and hope for the hosting side.
The result means that Bright Stars jump out of the relegation zone into the 13th position with 15 points while Villa descend to 11th with 17 points.
In the next fixtures, SC Villa will travel to Fort Portal to play against Tooro United at Buhinga Stadium on Wednesday February 16 while Bright Stars host Police at Kavumba on Tuesday.
