The tax collectors were in a fierce mood as they registered a 3-1 victory against struggling SC Villa in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Arena of Visions on Sunday.
The Jogoos registered the ninth loss of the campaign keeping them in the 12th position, two points away from the relegation zone.
SC Villa started the game with changes in strategy placing three men in their backline while defender Shafick Bakaki was given a role to lead the attack.
Amir Kakomo brought down Moses Sseruyide steps away from the area, Saidi Kyeyune stepped up and took the freekick.
The ball off Kyeyune’s effort was directed by Gavin Kizito into his net to give the tax collectors the lead.
Bakaki laid a calm pass to Benson Muhindo who went passed Hudu Mulikyi before he fired the ball into James Alitho’s arms.
Five minutes into the second stanza, Kenneth Semakula was forced off the field of play due to an injury and later replaced by Travis Mutyaba.
Sseruyide paved the way for Jackson Nunda who returned to action after two years of nursing an injury.
In the 63rd minute, Steven Mukwala beat his marker by pace before he unleashed a shot past Martin Ssenkooto to extend URA’s lead.
Villa tried to step up the speed of the game in search of at least a consolation but Mulikyi and Najib Fesali stood so firm in URA’s defence.
With four minutes to play, Nunda, Viane Sekajugo and Mukwala created magic before Ibrahim Daa slotted the ball in the back of the net.
URA gave away a cleansheet after Benjamin Nyakoojo fouled Kakomo in the area, Sadam Juma smartly converted from the spot.
The result takes URA into the second position with 42 points seven away from the log summit.
In the next games, URA FC will host Arua Hill SC while SC Villa will visit Wakiso Giants on Wednesday, March 30, 2021.
