SUPL : URA’s Mukwala ends KCCA’s unbeaten run

URA FC registered a 1-0 victory against KCCA FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Arena of Vision Stadium, Ndejje on Saturday January 8, 2022.

KCCA’s first chance of the game arrived in the 13th minute after Brian Majwega’s free kick was headed but Ashraf Mugume’s rebound was palmed away Nafian Alionzi.

Four minutes later, KCCA were back at the hosts’ goal but Davis Kasirye’s header off Majwega’s cross missed the target by inches.

Six minutes to half an hour mark, Sadat Anaku tapped home from close range but the assistant referee cancelled the goal calling for an offside.

URA FC were forced to make an early change replacing injured midfielder Moses Sseruyide for Brian Nkuubi in the 29th minute.

In the 36th minute, Steven Mukwala raised height to nod Saidi Kyeyune’s inch perfect cross to grant URA FC the well deserved lead.

Usama Arafat nearly leveled matters through a shot from the edge of the box but the effort went wide by inches.

Moments after, Gift Ali replaced roving forward Brian Majwega.

With ten minutes to play, Joachim Ojera paved way for youngster Alou Kokas while Hudu Mulikyi came on for Viane Ssekajugo.

The result takes URA FC to 22 points in the seventh position after 13 games while KCCA remains at the helm of the log with 31 points after 14 games.
