SUPL: Vipers bottle chance to top the league after draw with BUL

Vipers FC missed a chance of moving on to the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table after playing to a goalless draw with BUL FC on Saturday evening.

Walter Ochora’s own goal gave Vipers a lead before George Kasonko equalized for BUL FC in the closing stages of the game.

In the first minute, there was interplay between Karim Watambala and Milton Karisa to find Paul Willa who delivered a low cross into the box, but his attempt was blocked by Richard Ayiko.

Vipers was at it again in the 10th minute when Cesar Manzoki launched a quick counter attack and found Yunus Sentamu who missed the goal with just the keeper to beat.

In the 35th minute, Yunus Sentamu sent a cross in, Cesar Manzoki heading it straight into the hands of goalkeeper Saidi Keni.

Bright Anukani had a brilliant powerful shot at goal outside the box, but punched out by goalkeeper Keni.

Yunus Sentamu missed a seater in the 46th minute after Karisa tapped in a good one for him.

In the 47th minute, Walter Ochora tapped in the ball from Milton Karisa into the back of his own net underneath his goalkeeper to put Vipers in the driving seat.

Ibrahim Orit had a shot towards goal, but the ball went slightly over the bar in the 80th minute as Vipers was searching for an equalizer.

BUL FC eventually equalized in the 93rd minute through Oketch following Allan Kayiwa’s howler.

Following a draw, Vipers remained second on the log with 30 points while BUL FC lies fourth on the log with 26 points.

Elsewhere, Onduparaka FC registered a 4-2 win against Tooro United following goals from Muhammad Shaban, Gabriel Matata, Nathan Oloro and Emmanuel Okech. Tooro United’s two goals were scored by Hussein Mwanje and Denis Ojara.

Onduparaka FC moved to 13 points in the 13th position while Tooro United remained on the bottom of the table with four points.
