Vipers SC completed sweet revenge with a well deserved 3-0 victory against URA in the Star Times Uganda Premier League at the Arena of Visions, Ndejje.
The victory opened up a nine-point gap lead ahead of the second placed KCCA who shared spoils with Arua Hill yesterday.
Vipers SC captain Halid Lwaliwa nearly placed his side in the lead after five minutes played but his header off Disan Galiwango’s corner kick went wide by inches.
In the 27th minute, Lwaliwa shoot Vipers into the lead after URA’s defense failed to clear Cesar Manzoki’s header into the crowd.
Seven minutes later, URA defender Hudu Mulikyi brought down Yunus Sentamu in the area and Vipers were awarded a penalty.
Manzoki stepped up and powerfully placed the ball in the back of the net after beating the custodian Nafian Alionzi.
At the start of the second stanza, Viane Ssekajugo and Shafik Kagimu paved way for Jackson Nunda and Joackim Ojera in URA’s double change.
On the other hand Robertinho Oliviera introduced Musa Ssali for injured Siraje Sentamu.
Nunda brought life to the Tax Collector’s midfield engineering a number of dangerous passes but Vipers defense stood tall to clear the area.
Four minutes past the hour mark, Milton Karisa flicked the ball to meet on running Sentamu, he chipped the ball beyond Alionzi and scored in an empty net.
Vipers later suffered two forced changes that saw Sentamu and Fabien Mutobora pave way for Denis Kiggundu and Paul Mucureezi due to injuries.
The victory takes them to 55 points from 23 games while URA sit third with 43 points after plating 25 games off the campaign.
In the next fixture, the Venoms will visit KCCA on Saturday April 16 while URA will be hosted by Police on Friday April 22.
