The coach-player duo of teenage tacticians Kamiat Nayiga and Maria Nabbanjja are making headlines at the helm of U15 side Taggy High Soccer Academy in the Gateway Entebbe Junior League.
The Duo’s team currently sits in 5th place on the log, after clinching 6 points last time out beating Panthers Soccer Academy and VT Soccer Academy 2 to nil in each.
“We have been able to correct our mistakes, we were disorganized in the first games but our team has now formed cohesion,” Nayiga said
“It’s not easy leading a pack of boys as a girl, but since We are players too of this beautiful game we can share our understanding of the game.” Nayiga added
Nabbanjja told Gateway News that understanding their opponents has proved to be a handy advantage for them.
“Everyone has a different culture like us, but strategy matters, we are happy that we killed off the games early and we hope we can go on and fight.” Nabbanjja said
Taggy High captain, Emmanuel Batambire is full of praise for his youthful coaches. “They’ve a great tactical mind and keep us focussed regardless of the result they keep on pushing us futher,” he said
“We can’t ask for better, we are confident we can make something out of this league and this is the beginning of something greater.” Batambire intimated
This Saturday, Taggy will be placed against log leaders Streamline Soccer Academy and Pro Soccer Academy in their second game of the day at Kawuku Cardinal playground. The final match will be played between Pro Soccer Academy and Streamline Soccer Academy at this play gorund at 2pm.
