Thieves raid Police Post, steal valuable evidence

A suspected gang of thieves raided a Police post in the northern border district of Packwach in Panyimur Sub-county making away with police property and several Exhibits.

Unidentified goons reportedly broke into Dei police post and took away a police motorcycle Registration number UP 8313, a fuel tank, and some exhibits like mattresses that had been kept in the office.

The raid has resulted in the detention of the Officer in Charge (OC) of Dei Police Post, Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) Samson Odongo because he was the only one with access to the exhibit locker and using the missing motorcycle.

Sources privy to the investigation said Odongo reportedly aided the gang to successfully execute the raid.

Police confirmed the arrest of AIP Samson Odongo saying that he will be very key in the investigation.

According to the police spokesperson for West Nile, Josephine Angucia revealed that the stolen items are suspected to be already in the Democratic Republic of Congo since the Police Post is found about 50 meters from the Uganda-DR Congo border.

Angucia has furthermore indicated that the raid is linked to several other attacks in the area and investigations are underway.
