The Kabaka of Buganda, Ssabasajja Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ll on Sunday morning flagged off over 80,000 participants in the 2023 edition of the Kabaka birthday run at his Mengo palace.
This is the 10th edition which has been held under the theme “Ending HIV/AIDS by 2030” just like the past two years, in honour of Celebrating the kabaka’s Birthday which aims at sensitizing Men to always get tested, get treated and eventually protect women against Infection.
In his message, the King underscored that the war against HIV /AIDS is very important since he wants his people to stay alive and look after their relatives with the disease.
The Kabaka also underlined the need for unity amongst his subjects in order to spur social and economic transformation in Buganda and Uganda at large.
The run was attended by the Queen of Buganda, Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda, officials from the Buganda government, members of the royal family, Central government officials, among other dignitaries.
This year’s edition was mainly sponsored by Airtel and partners like UNAIDS and others who have contributed towards this noble cause of fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS.
