Timothy Dumba is now a household name around Uganda Christian University (UCU) corridors since he is among the two candidates rallying for the post of Guild President.
His slogan goes, “Let’s go further” as he calls upon students to support him create a better UCU.
Dumba released his manifesto on Tuesday, November 15 which was titled Accountability and Implementation.
“How can we merge the gaps and how can we extend the government to the students,” Dumba started during his Manifesto launch before adding; “What happens after the campaigns and elections?”
“One of the things we are going to start with is going digital. We want to extend service to you using this platform and the guild government will be in your pocket,” Dumba added in what he called a love letter from him to the students.
“We are going to go a step further and open the doors of the government. That is why we are going to start the open guild days. This will be Tuesday and Thursday.”
“Thursday will be that special because we shall be in the DH to reply to all the inquiries. This will us know and tackle issues that affect students on a day-to-day basis.”
“We have the assignment to bring the people together because without the people then I do not know what we are doing in government.”
“We also plan to introduce the associations’ week. This will give different associations a platform to compete and also create interaction among students.”
For the lovers of sports, Dumba affirmed that he has given the sector a close eye and he plans on bringing together athletes to know where they need support.
“I and the University’s goalkeeper, Collins Wesonge, created a group known as UCU All Stars that harbours all athletes playing different disciplines.”
“The move intends to know where the guild government can support our athletes because they do a tremendous job of flying our flag so high and ensuring we remain at the top,” he acknowledged.
When it came to the point of clearance, Dumba noted how much it needed concern due to the stress and pain that students go through.
“It does not make sense for me to spare a full day all in the name of the clearing. We intend to introduce an appointment system where one is alerted of their allocated time.”
“That way things will happen faster and students will pay more often. This will create a win-win situation where students will find it easy to handle the process in a short time.”
According to Dumba’s manifesto, it’s the time to find solutions and as well put to play those that are in place.
He aims to build a government where excellence defines the students of UCU and this will be achieved through accountability and implementation.
Elections will be held on Friday, November 18 as Dumba will lock horns with Jorem Edonu to find the 25th Guild President of UCU.
