UFL: Makerere University hit with suspended ban over hooliganism

The disciplinary committee University Football League (UFL) has slapped Makerere University football team with a five year suspended ban should they continue with hooliganism.

This comes after Makerere University fans disrupted their match against YMCA leading to it’s forfeiture.

According to UFL committee, the match was not completed due to fans’ interruptions after YMCA had scored their second goal to lead 2-1.

After thorough investigations into the whole scenario UFL disciplinary has agreed on giving the University a five year suspended suspension from the University league.

Aside from the 5 year suspended ban the committee decided that;

  • Makerere lose match to YMCA by forfeiture (3-0), YMCA goals to stand.
  • Makerere will be deducted 6 points and 6 goals and also UGX 1 million.

However, Makerere University has been given a chance to appeal against the ruling of the disciplinary committee within 48 hours.

Makerere University was on top topped its group claiming six points in their first two games against Mbarara University and St Lawrence University.

Makerere University football team has not been featuring in the last two editions of University football league over a ban regarding the same issues.
