Uganda Cranes: Micho makes changes to UAE trip squad

The fixture of the Practice games:
  • Gabon vs Uganda Cranes – 30-12-2021
  • Mauritania vs Uganda Cranes – 1-1-2022

Uganda Cranes gaffer Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has called upon three players to join the 21-player list that will travel to United Arab Emirates (UAE) for two practice games.

Micho’s charges are set to face off two Afcon bound teams in Gabon and Mauritania as they also shape up a strong team for the upcoming 2022 CHAN tournament.

Three entrants in the squad are URA FC skipper Shafic Kuchi Kagimu, BUL FC captain George Kasonko, and Ahly Shabab midfielder Chris Akena to add depth to the team.

Though on the other hand Micho’s utility player Denis Iguma has been excused from the squad leaving it on a 23-man chart.

“In line with FUFA strategic targets of Uganda Cranes, we are continuing with preparations of CHAN 2022 Algeria, AFCON 2023 Ivory Coast, and 2024 Olympic Games,” Micho was quoted by the FUFA website.

“The doubleheader matches against Gabon and Mauritania in UAE will be of great importance. For those two games, we have selected available players.”

“The team has a balance of maturity and experience with some youthful players from the U-17 team. Travis Mutyaba, Ibrahim Juma as well as five players of the AFCON U-20 team in Mauritania and a couple of returnees make up the team,” he concluded.

The team is set to fly to Dubai on December 29, 2021, and return on January 2, 2022.
