Kitara FC fought from two goals down to share spoils with Mbarara City in the FUFA Uganda Cup on Thursday at Kigaaya playground.

Jude Semugabi’s brace was cancelled by John Kisakye’s double.

The stalemate was evidence that this year’s chase for the title will be won by the finest due to the stiff competition.

The visitors took through Semugabi who converted from a loose ball in the area that came off Clinton Kamugisha’s back pass.

Kitara upped their game in search for a leveller but Mbarara kept it right at the back.

Moses Sseruyide, Dudu Ramathan and Kamugisha all came close but failed to get the ball past the goal line.

Later on, Semugabi doubled the visitors’ lead after tapping home a rebound off Henry Kitegenyi’s shot that gave Farouk Yawe hard time.

In the 85th minute, Kitara found their consolation through Kisaakye.

Then in the 97th minute, Kisaakye converted from the spot to level matters.

The stalemate leaves Kitara at the summit with 48 points, NEC move to the second position with 47 and Mbarara drop to third 45.
