Loanee Sam Ssenyonjo scored on three occasions as Wakiso Giants registered a 5-2 victory against Kyetume FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Tuesday.

Ssenyonjo opened the scoring party in the second minute before he doubled the lead in the third minute hence giving the hosts a perfect start.

But in the fourth minute, Kyetume managed to at least reduce the margin after Ezra Bidda placed the ball in the back of the net.

One would think more goals were to be earned but the score remained the same till the end of the first stanza. Both sides shared possession as the game found ground.

After recess, skipper Hassan Senyonjo placed his name on the score sheet after getting on the end of a spectacular attack.

Later on, striker Ssenyonjo completed a perfect hatrick and extended the team lead to four. The Purple Shacks seemed like they had sealed the game.

In the 71st minute, Kyetume were awarded a penalty and Bida stepped up and converted from the spot.

Eight minutes later, Tom Matsiko iced the game with a hope killer to Kyetume as the hosts sent them parking.

In the other encounter, Mbale Heroes bagged a 1-0 narrow victory against NEC at Sansiro playground Mbale on Tuesday.

James Mukebeezi’s head effort was enough to award the Eastern region all bragging rights over Kampala based NEC.

Mbale Heroes join Wakiso Giants and UPDF in the Round of 16 in the ongoing prestigious tournament.
