Uganda Cup: Vipers humble Calvary to reach Semifinals

Vipers joined Police FC to become the second team to reach the last four of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

This was after Vipers registered a 4-1 win against Calvary in the quarter-finals at St Mary’s Kitende on Friday.

The thrilling win was spearheaded by Yunus Sentamu and Abubaker Lawal who scored a brace each as they put Calvary on a sword.

While the visitors found their only goal through Junior Andama.

Ssentamu gave the Vipers the lead in the ninth minute. His direct free kick went past the wall to beat the visitors’ custodian.

Lawal doubled the lead for the hosts seven minutes later after being set up by Sentamu in a well-constructed goal.

In the 19th minute, Calvary looked so poor in their backline as Sentamu punished them further with a curler.

Karim Ndugwa tapped the ball into net but his effort was cancelled for being offside.

At the end of the first half, Andama pulled one back for Dudu Bosco’s coached side.

Lawal converted from the spot to complete his double making it four.
