Uganda Cup: Vipers storm finals after stinging Mbarara

Result: Vipers SC (6) 4 -0 (1) Mbarara City

Vipers SC stormed the second ssuccessive final of Stanbic Uganda Cup after registering a comfortable 4-0 victory against Mbarara City at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday.

The well deserved victory followed a 2-1 win in the first leg that was played at Kakyeka Stadium which means the reigning champions win the tie 6-1 on aggregate.

Halid Lwaliwa, Milton Karisa Yunus Sentamu and Bobosi Byaruhanga’s goals were enough to guide Vipers into the final game of the prestigious tournament.

In the first stanza, the hosts got numerous chances but failed to convert any amidst a favourable environment due to the fans who created the fans.

Najib Yiga’s quick feet gave Mbarara’s defence trouble but his darling deliveries into the area were cleared away and collected to keep the result intact.

As the second half came to an end, Cesar Lobi Manzoki was stretched off the pitch after a head collision.

After the interval, Vipers SC was more clinical and the captain Lwaliwa placed them ahead after nodding home Bobosi Byaruhanga’s well-taken freekick.

Ten minutes later, Milton Karisa doubled the lead through an exciting finish before the hitman Sentamu made it three to drown Mbarara further in sorrow.

In the added time, Byaruhanga put icing on the cake to conclude the scoring party with a great finishing after being set up by Sentamu.

The Venoms will wait on the winner between BUL and Booma to set up a complete final menu. Though the oil mmanufacturers best the Masindi based team 5-1 in the first leg.
