Uganda’s David Onama suffers defeat on UFC debut

Ugandan lightweight, David Onama lost his first-ever Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) by unanimous decision.

All judges scored the fight to Onama’s Welsh opponent Mason Jones 28-29 in the UFC Las Vegas 41 on Saturday.

The Ugandan came into Saturday’s bout on short notice with limited time to prepare after Brazilian Alan Patrick withdrew.

Onama was able to land several strikes in the tight contest, but it was not enough to clinch the win for him.

The 27-year-old phenomenon and a member of Glory MMA & Fitness became the first-ever Ugandan fighter to grace UFC history. His record stands 8-0 MMA, 0-1 UFC.
