UPL: Vipers Face Maroons After Continental Exit

Vipers SC will visit Maroons FC in the Startimes Uganda Premier League after their exit from the CAF Champions League.

Their focus will now shift to the local league as they search for their first win since last year.

Vipers captain Milton Karisa is confident the victory is nigh because they have all it takes to bag it.

“We have prepared well since the team came back from Mali (where they faced Horoya). The focus has now changed to local competitions,” he told the club media

“We are very hopeful we shall pick a win from Luzira. We have been in the Champions League and we know the benefits. So we are going to fight and take it back,” he added.

Karisa will be returning in action since his last game as they hosted Simba SC at Kitende.

This will be Alex Isabirye’s first league game at the helm of the Venoms.

Vipers will seek to register maximum points as they chase table leaders KCCA who are 12 points adrift with five games more.

While Maroons will be confident that they can squeeze a result at their home since they are on a decent run.

Since the start of the second round, the Prison Wardens have registered three victories and two draws.

Vipers have several players sidelined, goalkeeper Alfred Medekereza is suffering a finger injury.

Defenders Livingstone Mulondo is dealing with a knock while Yunus Sentamu and Marvin Youngman have an ankle and joint injuries respectively.

For Maroons, Belmos Opio is still under rehabilitation

Vipers are fourth on the log with 28 points while Maroons are eighth with 26 points.
